“Motherland - me”
International photography exhibition on the theme “Motherland - me” was held on 19-21 July in Cassine (AL), Italy. Photographers from Azerbaijan, Spain and South Africa attended the event.
This exhibition aimed to explore the spiritual connection between a person and their homeland, as well as the relationship between identity and geographic and cultural roots. Homeland is not merely a piece of land; it is a unity of emotions, memories, childhood, belonging, and identity. The “Me” within this unity is both an observer, a bearer, and a creator.
“Homeland” is not merely a piece of land — it is a union of emotions, memories, childhood, belonging, and identity. The exhibition explores the idea that nothing and no one can come between a person and their homeland, and that every individual is, in essence, a continuation of their homeland. The “I” in this unity is both an observer, a bearer, and a creator.
The photographs displayed aim to investigate a person’s spiritual attachment to their homeland and the relationship between identity and its geographical and cultural roots. Although the concept of “Homeland and I” may seem simple, it carries layered and profound meanings. In the photographs, the connection to homeland is expressed not only through physical places but also through moments that leave traces in memory — through glances, silent scenes, and ephemeral details.
In this exhibition, Azerbaijan reveals itself in natural landscapes, historical monuments, city streets, textures of buildings, human faces, and ordinary yet unforgettable fragments. Each frame is both a personal vision and a visual piece of collective memory.
The exhibition features works by the following photographers:
Supported by the Azerbaijan Photographers Union (AFB) and the F37 Union Independent Photography Platform, this exhibition brings together works of renowned local and international photographers, including foreign artists who once lived in Azerbaijan, uniting them in this unique project.
